greatam Posted January 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2008 Hi im looking for information on good hotels near JFK and Transfers to the cruise Treminal at Bayonne, prices times etc.thanks Quite a few hotels around JFK-from a Days Inn to the Crowne Plaza. Are you planning any time in NYC or are you just arriving via plane and leaving on the cruise the next day??? If you are spending any time sightseeing in NYC, hotels around JFK are not a good place to stay. The taxi fare to and from Manhattan will eat up any savings on hotel room in Manhattan. Not to mention the time going to and fro. You will most likely have to use a car service to get to the Bayonne cruise terminal. NYC taxi's DO NOT have to go to NJ to the cruise port. Please go to the East Coast Departures forum. A wealth of information about NYC hotels, tours and transfers.

winnyd Posted January 10, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2008 As you know Bayonne is in New Jersey.we stayed at the Sheraton on the Hudson NJ. It has a ferry dock that takes you over to Manhatton with bus transferres.for NY sightseeing.(actualy docks next to the Concord.your Plane.)Reason we stay there we are from Canada & park our car for free, plus it's quite a lot cheaper than NY Hotels. You will enjoy the trip down the Hudson past the Old Lady,Still can't get over the 3 boat police escort you get for a good 10miles till you hit the Atlantic.Next day you will be able to take off your shirt as he makes for the Gulf stream Weve done it twice .once from Bayonne to Bermuda & from Manhatton down to the Caribb. agabbymama Posted January 11, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2008 Staying at JFK or anywhere in NYC you are going to pay a chunk of change for the transfer to Bayonne. I stayed in Manhattan in '06 two days pre-cruise, then had to pay $98 from Manhattan to Cape Liberty (11 miles) then another $110 from Bayonne back to JFK at the end of the cruise. If you haven't already booked your flights, I'd recommend flying into Newark Airport and staying at a hotel there, then paying $35-40 for the trip to Cape Liberty. You might find a car service from NYC a little cheaper than I paid for a van, but not that much cheaper. But we were sightseeing in NYC so it wasn't really feasible to stay at Newark Airport and travel back and forth to NYC. Have a great trip!
TOM CRUIZES Posted January 15, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted January 15, 2008 Thanks for all the replies, we still havent made up our mind on htls yet but the Fairfield by Marriott looks a good deal, or we may hop the train or a shuttle into NY then get transfers from there,

Won't save you any money on transfers from JFK, but it is an interesting trip. Cab from your hotel at JFK to the ferry terminal in Manhattan will be $45.00 (flat rate) + tolls and tip The ferry previously discussed arrives in Jersey City. Another $40-50 to the cruise terminal in Bayonne.

MonaCK Posted January 15, 2008 #11 Share Posted January 15, 2008 You can take the air train to jamaica, and then transfer to the Long Island Rail Road - but that would be a pain in the you know what wiuth all that luggage. There is a service called: New York Airport Service: http://www.nyairportservice.com/ If you are planning on spending the night in manhattan, I recommend them. They're economical, and definitely less of a pain than taking the train from the airport.
