San Diego Little Italy

I hope I am in the right place for this. We are on the MOS next week stopping in San Diego on Tuesday. We have been told that "Little Italy" is an interesting place to visit along with the "Gas Lamp District". Can anyone tell us anything about these places, please.

Little Italy has lots of great restaurants, some interesting shops, even a classic "dive" bar. You can walk there easily, or take the trolley close to the cruise ship pier. Once you are there, they have a shuttle that runs up and down India Street (the main "drag"). Lots of information on their website:

For the Gaslamp, it is again tons of restaurants, some nice shops, and on the fringes, quite a few galleries. You can walk there or take the trolley (I would suggest taking the Orange Line to the end of the line on the south at Petco Park, and then consider walking back through the Gaslamp from there). There are also pedicabs to rent if you get tired. Here is their website, which includes a map.
