bruce-r Posted September 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2004 More photos can be seen Here I was there in March and did my diving with Neptunesdivers I read that they lost nearly all that they owned due to the Hurricane. Things won't be the same on the island anytime soon. This is just about where the tenders dock in Georgetown:
richtersl Posted September 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2004  Holy cow! I recognize some of those areas. The buildings along the dock area are still standing, which is a plus...I guess. But there will be a lot of cleaning up to do. So sad.... :(
i-m-ed Posted September 14, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2004 I think the photos are from the wrong hurricane though. The title of the album is "Hurricane Michele comes to Grand Cayman"
eguiney Posted September 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2004 We are booked on a cruise that was susposed to stop in GC in 2 weeks. We are also booked with Neptune Divers. I am guessing that that stop will not happen and would doubt that the trip with Neptune would happen either. Grand Caymann is such a beautiful island. It is sad to see pictures of such desctruction. http://news.search.yahoo.com/search/news/?ei=ISO-8859-1&c=news_photos&p=Grand+Cayman
dad son team Posted September 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2004 That is exactly where the tenders dock. the yellowish building to the left in the photo is the Hard Rock Cafe. The wave in the picture is crashing over anouther buliding. I believe is the the Atlantis submarine maybe?

bruce-r Posted September 14, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted September 14, 2004 Where did you get your information about Neptune's Divers? I got that information from the diver2diver message board on Scubadiving.com You can also check on the Neptune's web site for a link to email them. Sorry for the link to the photos for incorrect hurricane. I think the actual waves from Ivan were even higher than what are shown in those Michele photos. Here are some photos of Ivan's destruction. This time I checked and they are current.
Spacegeek Posted September 15, 2004 #9 Share Posted September 15, 2004 Thanks for the information about Neptune's Divers. I hate to see them lose everything like that. They are great people. Hopefully they will be able to get back on their feet and continue their business.
thecleave Posted September 15, 2004 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2004 I've been in touch with the webmaster from Neptunes Divers, and she is working on a list of people who would like to help Keith & Casey out. You just need to send an email to neptunes@neptunesdivers.com. I finished up my diving certification with them a couple of years ago, and dove with Casey last March. They are great people and I'm so sad to hear of their loss. I'll keep you updated if I hear from the webmaster again.
