What is on the back of the QM2?

In many pictures, looking at the Stern of the QM2, I see the "Minnow's Pool" which seems to be a large rectangular pool and a round splash pool forward of this. Just aft of the rectangular pool is a narrow but wide area that one enters from either side (port or starboard) by climbing some stairs. In some pictures, it almost looks as if there are two "stations" at each end of this rectangle. It is definitely not a pool as there is no water in it and the bottom is composed of dark blue square tiles (perhaps around 18" sqaure). The official QM2 deck plans show the area in white (not blue like pools and such) but it is not identified.

Does anyone know what this is? I have search and search, viewed every picture I can find, read everything I can find but I still have no clue.

If someone can answer this I may finally be able to sleep at night! (just kidding)

Thank you very much for your help.

Michael

There are several pictures of this area on the link below, look at the transatlantic photos. It is a kids "water splash/wet" area, there are fountains and to each side, small water cannon. Hope this and the pictures help.

A little off topic.........

I see you are from San Diego, do you know anything about the cruises going out of your home town to the Mexican Rivera and watching whales in winter time. How high is the percentage of seeing those magnificent creatures off Cabo San Lucas????

Thank you in advance

Thank you so much. Your pictures are wonderful!!!! I hope to sail on the QM2 one day. Right now I am working on a model of the ship, and your pictures are incredibly helpful with a lot of the details I have not been able to find elsewhere.

Thank you for that, most kind. I'm not sure if you've had the same problem but I was unable to see some of the pictures on webshots, will look into this and use another site if webshots don't fix the problem. Sorry about the problem, they were all there and available in the past!!

Good luck with your model.
