Amtrak?

Has anyone taken amtrak to ship ports or near I mean? I would like to take amtrak from meridian ms to galveston but haven't heard anyone talk about train transportation on the boards...I am not much on flying :(

There is no Amtrak service to Galveston. There was talk of restarting some kind of train service to Galveston but I don't think anything came of it.

 

I live in the area and there has been no publicity concerning the train service concept.

The Amtrak station is about a good rock throw from the port in Mobile. If you have a bit of luggage it might be a 2.00$ dollar cab fare(haha)

Too Bad too. I think the old train station in Galveston is about two blocks from the cruise terminal. If I am not mistaken, I think it was turned into a museum???

Amtrak website lists two spots in Galveston??? One is at 25th and strand. But it says it is a Bus throughway service, so it means you jump on a bus from some other station.

There's an Amtrak station in downtown Houston, they probably bus you to Galveston from there.
