Dinner in St. Martin

We'll be docked in Philipsburg, St. Martin in April from 10 am to 11 pm. Are there restaurants at the pier? I can't find any sun set excursions there; I guess most ships leave before then. Even if I couldn't get a nice excursion, I'd like to eat dinner out since we'll be there until 11. However, I don't want to have to take a taxi to get to a restaurant.

How safe is the port after dark?

For dinner I would get out of Phillipsburg either by renting a car for a day or using a taxi and head to Simpson Bay or Grand Case for dinner. Grand Case has great French food and a restaurant row where you can eat any place and not go wrong. Some even will accept dollars for Euros one for one(the French side uses Euros) Don't drive there though since the wine is very good and the roads are winding. We ate in California. We stayed in Simpson Bay and ate at several restaurants there. Mostly fresh seafood. We spent a week on the island and enjoyed it immensely , but Phillipsburg was for shopping.

There are a few very nice restaurants in Philipsburg if you don't want to get out of town.

Le Escargot

Antoine's

both french and on front street

Fusion..on front Street next to the Sea Palace Hotel.

Chesterfield's..at Great Bay marina

Greenhouse restaurant..more casual bar atmosphere with decent food

Passagrahhan Hotel....

Holland House Hotel

both have nice food and are right on front Street

The front Street restaurants also border the Boardwalk by the water.
