DayCruisers Posted September 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2004 Does anyone have experience diving Turtle Reef in Grand Cayman? I understand there is a mini wall and that if you swim out a little (how far?) there is a big wall with lots of coral and sea life. Would you recommend Turtle Reef over a boat dive? If a boat dive what dive site would you suggest? Thanks for the info!
TrqoisWtrs Posted September 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2004 I think that is the reef right across from the turtle farm, behind the restaurant Cracked Conch? The dive shop there is called Dive Tech - here's their website, click on shore dive and you'll see an aerial view of the reef. http://www.divetech.com/ I had friends who dove there and said it was one of the best shore dives they've done. You can snorkel there too if anyone's interested in that. Cracked Conch is good for eats after diving and their back deck has an awesome view. From the posting on their website, sounds like they did okay in regards to Hurricane Ivan.
karen2cruz Posted September 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2004 Because pf Hurricane Ivan, the Turtle Farm is gone. The reef might not even be there either. They are probably not even going to let cruise ships dock for another 2 months. Grand Cayman is currently under marshall law.
TrqoisWtrs Posted September 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2004 See the link to Dive Tech above. According to them, the turtle farm is not gone.
