Can anyone tell me about the Hawaii Polo Inn & Tower - it is a good place to stay?

Can't tell you much about it apart from its location. You'll be close by Ala Moana Shopping Center (easy walking distance). The Hawaii Prince Hotel should be almost directly across from you and Hawaii's only Red Lobster should be diagonally across from you. [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img] You are relatively far from the main attractions in Waikiki itself but if the price is right, I would say it's probably OK. It's a Marc Resort which is another low-cost hotel chain here in Hawaii - generally not thought to be too bad - probably equivalent to a HoJo.

I do not know if this is the absolute truth or not, but I always understood it catered to the gay community. Perhaps someone else can confirm or deny this.

Really? I had no idea ... reading reviews on tripadvisor, though, would make me leery about staying here though.

I stayed there back in 1998. It was a so-so hotel. Back then there was no AC in the room, and there was either no pool or something else, I just remember not swimming in it. It is not near the main attractions of Waikiki, but we did walk to the more fun areas. We also hopped on the bus to get places.
