Alaska Cruisin'-Clothes???

  • 2 weeks later...

DH and I are also on an Alaskan cruise in late May/early June. I have a long velvet skirt and a couple of sparkly tops for formal nights, but don't know what to wear for dinner on the non-formal nights. I thought about taking capris, but they probably won't be warm enough.

Any suggestions?

For my Alaska cruises, I pack a pair of black slacks and wear them twice with a pretty sweater or twin set and heels. I love dresses so I usually pack 2-3 for dinner. My preference are classic wrap dresses in a matte jersey for ease of care and packing.

For my last two Alaska cruises on formal nights I wore a 2 piece stretch velvet skirt and top, floor length, with a fitted straight skirt and a sleeveless top with a plunging V back. It was embroidered on the skirt and bottom of the top in black satin. Another night I choose a pair of evening trousers with a scarf type fringed drape in the front that makes it look like a skirt and wore it with a beaded black sleeveless top.

The main difference for me in packing for Alaska versus the islands is fabrics and color. I leave the silk chiffons at home with the tropical prints.

Have fun:)
