JudyOh Posted April 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Will be in Maui Oct 13-19, have read great reviews about Ulalena and Warren & Annabelle, anyone seen either of these shows? and what is your opinion??? Also, my birthday is the 15th, would you suggest Mama's Fish House for lunch or dinner?
spleen93 Posted April 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2004 I've heard great things about both shows - haven't seen either, unfortunately (never took advantage of the fact that we lived there for a year). I saw a clip of Ulalena as part of the Hawaiian Tropic competition and it really looked good - may have to fix not seeing it during our next trip to Maui. I didn't think that Mama's was open for lunch ... is it? I would still think dinner would be better near sunset - there's something magical about the setting and the fading light that gives it a very romantic and tropical feeling. JudyOh Posted April 16, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 16, 2004 They have a lunch menu posted on their website, just thought it the prices would be a little cheaper at lunch than dinner.
spleen93 Posted April 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2004 If they have a lunch option, then the prices will most definitely be cheaper than at night - might be a good option as well! sptrout Posted April 16, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 16, 2004 My wife and I saw the Warren and Annabelle Show this past January - - it was terrific!!! The popular guide book "Maui Revealed" says that it is the best show on Maui. I have not seen every show on Maui, but it was one of the best live shows that I have ever seen. Unbelievable magic, and very, very funny. Very clean show, but no one under 21 allowed. We saw this show plus the Old Lahaina Luau a few days before, both very good, but Warren and Annabelle's was more fun in our opinion and we will be sure to see it again if we ever make it back to Maui. 05/89 NCL, Seaward ??/90 Carnival, Topicale ??/91 Carnival, Festivale 11/93 Wind Star, Wind Song 01/95 Celebrity, Horizon 01/96 Celebrity, Century 01/00 Celebrity, Zenith 01/01 Princess, Ocean Princess 01/02 Princess, Ocean Princess 01/03 Celebrity, Summit 01/04 Land Cruise - Maui, HI 05/04 Princess, Diamond 01/05 Celebrity, Galaxy

Joanne G. Posted April 18, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2004 We thought Ulalena was an outstanding show. It's hard to describe - the story of the history of Maui told through Hawaiian/Polynesian dancing with a sort of a stylized feel - and a touch of Cirque du Soleil. It was not what we expected, but we were enchanted. We saw it on the evening of our arrival in Maui. We were looking for something to keep us awake past our Central time zone bedtime, and the music and pounding drums of Ulalena did the trick! JudyOh Posted April 18, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted April 18, 2004 From the website I thought it looked a little like Cirque du Soleil and we love their shows. Saw "O" last year in Vegas and have seen LaNouba in Orlando several times, the shows are hard to describe but are spellbounding. Guess we will have to see both Ulalena and Warren & Annabelle. Guest Posted April 20, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Mama's is open for lunch. We were there last week. The parking lot was filled. We came back for dinner. We had reservations we made 3 weeks prior. It was a Wednesday night and they were quoting people without reservations at 6:30PM that there would be a 2-hour wait. The food is good, but bring lots of money. Dinner for (4), one drink each, no wine, salad, entree and no dessert: $245.
