Cemetary Beach & Hell

There are 4-6 of us headed to Grand Cayman on the Carnival Valor in September.

We don't want to snorkel with stingrays, we just want to cab it to Cemetary Beach with a stop in Hell.

Has anyone done this before? We're wondering how pricey the cabs are & how easy it is to get picked up from that particular beach.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

We are just back from Grand Cayman (sailed on NOS last week). We rented snorkel gear from the little stand right at Devils Grotto (there is GREAT snorkeling right here but no beach - we had our kids with us and it is too rough for them there). It's to the right of the pier 5 minute walk or so. Then got a cab for $6/each - so $24 one way which is pricey but that's the going rate) up to Cemetary Beach which is at the far end of 7 Mile Beach. There really is a cemetary butting right up to the beach...a few pine-type trees for shade...very soft sandy beach entry - nice snorkeling around the reef about 100 yards out??? No amenities here - wish I would have had more time - would have brought a small cooler w/drinks & snacks.

There is a bus stop directly across from this beach - $2.50/pp will get you back into town but the bus stops a lot and it can be a tight squeeze in there (note it's not really a "bus" - more like a big minivan).

Didn't go to Hell...we were late getting tendered in and that took up most of our time.

When you get off the ship you'll find many local tour people ready to take you where you want to go for cheap! They're all licensed, so you don't have to worry about that. Our guide took us to turtle farm, rum cake store, hell, and dropped us at cemetary beach (our request) and we took the public bus back. You can negotiate the price for your group. The bus system (vans) is very reliable and you can take it out to hell and the beach. Routes and such are available online.

Happy Cruising.
