cah14522 Posted February 22, 2008 #151 Share Posted February 22, 2008 If you put the alcohol in your checked bag that you leave with the porter on the pier, it will usually make it to your room with no problems. I usually bring a couple bottles with me. I am not a fan of the Vodka's they have on the ship. I prefer Stoli's, so I bring some with. But I still purchase plenty of drinks while on board as well. Just one tip....buy the alcohol once you get to Miami if you can. You would HAVE to put it in your checked bag when you fly and I wouldn't risk it not getting broke. A couple guys I know put a bottle of Crown and Rum in their checked luggage after their cruise and when they picked it up from baggage claim when they got home, both bottle had broke. Everything in their bags were drenched in liquor. At least they were going home. I'd hate for this to happen on my way to my cruise. Enjoy. Misty One tip for you with putting liquor in checked luggage - bubble wrap. Used it on our last cruise and every bottle in our checked luggage made it home just fine (some in the luggage on the way there too, for that matter! ;) )
cah14522 Posted February 22, 2008 #152 Share Posted February 22, 2008 We are sailing on Monday - anyone have any specific thing they want to know, pictures of anything, etc., that I can report back? Our ports are Grand Turk, Half Moon and Nassau. Traveling with kids, will plan on utilizing the entire ship - from the kids camp to the casino - so let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise, I will report back in March!:) Thanks for your offer. How old are your kids, I have two sons 15 and 13, and a 10 year-old daughter, so I'm hoping they will all find plenty to do on the Imagination. My sons would love a nice basketball court, but I believe I read there is not one on this ship. They will probably want to use the gym, what are the age limitations for that? Aside from Nassau, we haven't been to any of these ports so I will be interested to hear what you report back on what there is to do there for a family. Thanks! dolphinwyo Posted February 22, 2008 #153 Share Posted February 22, 2008 My kids are 3, 6 - so a little younger. I will ask the gym though. As far as I know, no basketball. Mini golf though. I am off to finish packing and hit the road. I will report back in March!
elaineb Posted February 23, 2008 #154 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Let's keep this thread alive! Anyone know where the "Secret Door" is? You know, the one that brings you out to a deck in the front where you can see the stars???
Musicman9859 Posted February 23, 2008 #155 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Hello all, could someone whose been to Grand Turk please tell me if the Margaritaville experience includes a catered lunch by Carnival and if so, when is it served? Noticed we have a very short stay in Grand Turk in May aboard the Imagination 7am-2pm. Thanks for any feedback!:)
daynab Posted February 23, 2008 #156 Share Posted February 23, 2008 We sailed on the Imagination on 2/7/08. I think I am going to find a hard time booking outdise the new refurbed Fantasy class. My kids want a waterworks on every ship. The new add-ons are fantastic. They did take away the bball court in place of minigolf. You can read my review on these boards or in the review section. I don't know about a "secret door" but if you go through the Lido Deck Restaurant you can stand outside at the front of the ship. Dayna

Dayna On the Triumph I think it was on the Empress deck forward - it brings you out onto a very small deck and it's just you, DH and the stars!!! The wind is so strong that it was difficult to open the door - at first we thought it was locked.
sharon&family Posted February 23, 2008 #158 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Does anyone remember what the height requirement is on the water slides. My five year old is looking forward to them and if she is going to be disappointed, I would like to tell her ahead of time. She is 47" tall. Do all three have the same height requirement? Bunkie103 Posted February 23, 2008 #160 Share Posted February 23, 2008 Hello all, could someone whose been to Grand Turk please tell me if the Margaritaville experience includes a catered lunch by Carnival and if so, when is it served? Noticed we have a very short stay in Grand Turk in May aboard the Imagination 7am-2pm. Thanks for any feedback!:) When we did Grand Turk in 2006 there was no catered lunch. Margaritaville wants you to spend your money there! You are just steps from the ship if you need something to eat, you can just run back and get it. I too wish we had more time in Grand Turk, but we'll just make the best of the time we have.
bragstarr Posted February 23, 2008 #161 Share Posted February 23, 2008 You know, I never checked for the secret door on Imagination which is supposed to be at the front of the showroom. However, if you go up to Verandah deck, and walk all the way past the cabins there to the front of the ship, there is a door that takes you right to a front deck where you can quietly watch sailaways from. Very secluded and I don't know how many people know about it. Is the Margaritaville Experience a shore excursion? I did see Cabanas at Margaritaville but no one seemed to be in them. They're steps from the many lounge chairs with no problem finding a nice play to lie in the sun or shade. Honestly, I wouldn't waste my money on that, especially when the ship is steps away and you can go back on for lunch.
Ape Cruizer Posted February 23, 2008 #162 Share Posted February 23, 2008 The Inspiration and Imagination have the same deck plan. I read before my last cruise on the Inspiration, that there is a door to the right and the left of the stage in the lounge on the Atlantic deck. I didn't check it out then, but I plan on poking around in May :D Can anyone back me up here?

We just got off the Imagination where they have the Waterworks play area. The large yellow slide and both bluue slides have a height restriction of 42 inches. Our 5 year old LOVED it! :D
sharon&family Posted February 24, 2008 #164 Share Posted February 24, 2008 Yes, in response to the person asking if anyone going April 7th, that is also our sale date. We are in our low 40's and have a teenage daughter going with a friend and we also have a 3 and 5 year old. We are so excited. We went on the Miracle two years ago for our first Carnival cruise and this will be our 2nd. I saw that someone answered my question about the water slide height being 42". Is there any chance my 3 year old who is only 37" would be able to go down it at all. She will be so jealous. She is almost braver than my 5 year old. Charming01 Posted February 25, 2008 #166 Share Posted February 25, 2008 We got back on Friday and I'm going to try and post a review in between the work I need to catch up on. It was an awesome ship and we would do it again in a heart beat! They didn't have the deli up and running on our cruise but it looked like they were getting it ready for the cruise after us. We didn't starve and there was always something to eat.
daynab Posted February 25, 2008 #167 Share Posted February 25, 2008 Sharon, Your 3 year old may be able to go on the racing slides, but I don't think they will let her on the big twisty slide. If she is under the height requirement she might get turned around and possible hurt on the slide. They are usually pretty strict about height. I am attatching a few pics of the slides.
