That would be port side (left side facing front) and when we were in Grand Turk the port side faced the beach. I have a picture somewhere of the beach at Grand Turk from our room. I'll dig it up and post it from home later on tonight.

You tender to HMC, so your offshore a bit, but the port side was also facing the beach there....I have a pic of that too...will post later.

Did not go to Nassau on this trip, but if you visit Atlantis you can go only to the "Dig" and see the aquarium and exhibits, and play in the casino. The only way to do the waterpark and use the rest of the facilities is to book a room with Atlantis or go to Comfort suites across the street and book a room for the day there. (they have full access to Atlantis).

You need to show a room key and get a bracelet befoe they let you into the pool areas. The beaches are public though.

Hope that answers some questions.

Here ya go Mikil321:

We were in Room E-68. I forgot my snorkel gear on-board, so I went back for it and snapped this picture from our oceanview window. E-68 is port-side...

Once I got back to the beach, I snapped this pic looking back toward the dock/ship from our beach fortification...

You can see Imagination on the right side of the pic...

Last one...From the beach fortification looking away from the dock/ship...

NixNutz! Thanks for the great photos looks like you had great weather ? Nice to see you had fun. How did you find snorkling right off the beach on grand turk? I just upgraded my room to a Cat 12 Penthouse WooHooo! First class for the first time! My daughter is excited seeing we have never done this before but hey....Why not right? We deserve it? Anyway thanks again for the cool photos Mikil

You will LOVE having the cat 12 on that side facing the beach.

When we went to Grand Turk, I woke my daughter up and took her out to the balcony. Her mouth dropped, she thought the beach was so beautiful.

I have it all on tape.

Then she kicked her feet up on the rail and ate her room service breakfast while looking at the beach on GT. Oh, she is quiet a drama queen;) Mind you, this was 2 years ago and she was all of 5!

It moments like that and views like the ones below that make it worth the extra money you spend on the cat 12 balcony.

Mikil, I was just reading on another board, that thDaynaere is an excursion for Altantis Aquaventure. Not sure how much, although the poster said it was pricey, she also said it was worth it. I have stayed at Atlantis and it is quite the sight.

Have a great cruise.

Here are some pics from cat 12.

Thanks for the photos guys. Much appreciated. Looks like a very nice room Im glad i booked it.

Beccadoby! Question? What side of the ship were you on ?What do you find was best?

DayNab! Thanks again for your information about Atlantis. I did however find out that the best thing to do when trying to get into atlantis for the waterpark is either book a room there (atlantis) or book a room at the Comfort Suites across the road from Atlantis. Other than Atlantis ,this hotels guests are the ONLY ones allowed to use Atlantis s facilites including the waterpark BUT the hotel is very pricey .Thought Id pass this little tidbit along incase anyone is asking the same quetion as myself. Thanks once again Mikil

I did the Grand Turk/HMC/Nassau itn a few years ago and we just took a cab to Atlantis and walked around. We ended up taking their Aquarium Tour and it was amazing. The tour includes all of the underground aquarium, the outside grounds and some of the inside hotel and casino. The tour guide was great. He was funny, had lots of interesting info and didn't rush us through. I think the price was $24 pp. Only about $8 more than my local aquarium, and Atlantis' is MUCH better. I honestly didn't notice if Carnival did any tours or not. But it's definately a sight to be seen.

Wow! Never thought this thread would have this much interest and interesting people.

Daynab and Braggstar thanks once again for your valuable information and answers for everyone including myself.

MrBudman24, thanks for the latest info on the Deli opening. My stomach thanks you.

Lets keep this thread alive people. What we all (including myself) would like to see is more photos. The new Deli, Inside staterooms ,destinations etc... I have one for everyone that was on the Eastern Carribean. How did everyone find Atlantis in the Bahamas? Anyone do the waterpark there? How much money was it? Did Carnival offer any excursions etc??? or did you have to fend for yourselves? Thanks and lets keep it going Mikil

That cruise we were port side (cabin U104) Great location with great views!;)

You will be very happy with your choice

Forgot to add:

If you are wanting to do the water slides at Atlantis, get the room at comfort suites...much lower price

Beccadoby! Thanks once again for your help and advise. Yep! I know about the Comfort suites trick, but I found its almost as expensive as atlantis the time of year (August) we are cruising. U104 huh... I am in U74 on the same side of the ship so i guess I might get the same view depending on what side the captain parks her!I have one more quick question for you? What kind of chairs were on your balcony with the Imagination plastic white ones or metal ones???? I have a link here that another poster put up for me about the Cat 12 suites and it has lots of photos of the fantasy class ships Cat 12 suites and the balcony chairs all seem to be different????? Thanks once again Mikil

Link to Cat 12 Suite information AND photos. Newer upgrade photos at end of thread. Enjoy! I did!

We have not had the cat 12 on The Imagination yet.

But, All the ones that we have had on the Fantasy class were the 2 plastic chairs and the small plastic table.

daynab can answer this question for you since she just got off Imagination.

If you are wondering, DD has a pirate patch painted on her eye.:p Just noticed, a mole and a scare also painted---gota love the kids clubs!

When at GT, there is only room for one ship to dock. They will always pull in facing the beach. So, you will get a good view of the beach on the port side.

I am exhausted, we are still in FLL, flying out in a.m., just checking email. Have the motion swaying feeling, so going to lie down for a while. Will do a review when we get home, but it was great!!! I will answer any questions too - so fire away! We were traveling with 3 yo and 6 yo, but I grabbed camp schedules for all ages groups. Kids did not want to leave, they had so much fun. Deli is open - all kinds of hot and cold sandwiches, you chose the bread, meats, etc., also they make omelettes to order in the a.m at the deli station. Grand Turk - you can just walk off and go to beach, snorkel right there for free if you have your own stuff. Margaritaville - just walk over and hop in the pool, swim up and buy a drink. The DJ had 10% off coupons for gift shop, so ask him for one if you go. Cabanas there not really necessary, plenty of chairs, actually, we got front row chairs on beach and pool without any problem. Half Moon - paradise found!!! Cabanas are worth it.

Anyway - I am going to stop swaying and typing - talk to you all soon!

Which cabin?

Miami: either side is ok. starboard (right) = ship terminal, port (left) = southbeach

GT: port side is better

HMC: starboard

Nassau: depends on where you're docked: you'll most likely be flanked by ships. If you're on the end of the pier (long walk), port side has great views of Paradise Island. If you're closest to town (short walk), starboard is better. But, chances are, you'll have view of another ship whichever side you're on.

I was in E-12, inside cabin, cat 4D, directly beneath the show lounge, 2 cabins away from self service laundry. Pretty average for an inside cabin, but I wouldn't recommend it if you require silence when you sleep. I could clearly hear the show band when I was getting ready for dinner & could also hear muffled sounds of the cruise director speaking. (You can turn on the TV to drown out the noise. It wasn't TOO bad.) I was woken up each morning by the thrusters or whatever slows down the ship as we pull into port.

I loved the location, because it was out of the way yet close to the action. The E deck is on the same level as the purser's desk & only 1 or 2 flights of stairs from restaurants, shopping, shows. Yes, there was a door that said "crew only," but out of respect for the crew's privacy, I didn't look.

In the cabin, the one outlet was difficult to use if your hairdryer has a big bulky plug. I wish I brought a power strip with a standard 3-prong plug. I never used my night light: there were 3 reading lights in the cabin & enough light coming under the hallway door to prevent me from feeling disoriented. Showers had dispensers of gel & shampoo. There were also samples of toothpaste, razors, shampoo/conditioner (single use). No clock in the room, but there's one on the TV.

I spent most of my time at the Casino & Dream Bar. The guitarist (Drew) was awesome w/ acoustic cover songs. Tons of fun, especially the later it got. You'll hear him on the way to dinner if you're in the Spirit D.R., but it took me 1/2 the cruise to realize how much FUN it is late at night.

Casino was a blast. They held classes for blackjack & craps and BJ & slots tourneys. I saw Carib Stud, 3 card poker, BJ w/no Qs, and blackjack where the dealer's cards are up but a draw loses, 2 roulette tables, craps table, 4-5 standard BJ tables, and lots of slot machines. First night had $3 minimums; otherwise, it was $5. If you're a casino nut like me, email me before you go. Funny story to tell & you can get in on the joke if you'd like.

I thought the shows were lame, but that's probably just me. I didn't care for the comedians either. Same old jokes. The Legends show was great - not to be missed - but I couldn't sit through the karaoke, especially when I heard "Once in a Lifetime" twice within 4 songs. I liked the few trivia shows I saw. As always, Newlywed show & Pool games were funny. Deck band was good: fun & easy to sing along to. Piano bar sing along was slower early in the evening, but packed later.

Spa got good reviews from tablemates. Be sure to register for the drawings on the first day - they gave away a lot of prizes & discounts. Menu pricing was high, but towards the end of the cruise, you could get 3 mini-treatments for $109. Exercise classes were 3 for $20. Definitely go to the free booze tasting. Unlimited shots & loads of fun w/a rowdy crowd.

The Deli is inside the buffet area on deck 10, towards the back near the pizza. Omelettes for breakfast & sandwiches 11a-11p most days. I had room service for late lunch on port days - pretty fast & the food was good.

I'll post port info/reviews in the Ports of Call area, but very quickly: snorkeling in GT: take a tour.

I feel like I've missed some questions. Feel free to ask away....

The ship alternates among 2 or 3 itineraries.

Hi Mikil. The phone also has an option for wake up calls.

Formal night is the day at sea, early in the cruise. The rest were all casual.
