Driving to Miami

:) ;) Hi we are driving to Miami the end of May and are looking for a hotel/motel that will let us leave our auto parked at the motel while we are on cruise. Anyone know of a motel around Miami like that? It would be great if the motel had a shuttle to the port, but we could catch a taxi.

Thanks

You can find some hotels that will allow you to stay for an overnighter and park your car, but they will charge you for that service. I was looking for just such a place and found that most of these hotels charge you above and beyond the $20/day the POM charges. Many charge as much as $28/day for parking! We decided to stay overnight in FLL (found a nice clean Mom & Pop motel for cheap right near the beach ;) ) and will just park at the POM. Will end up being less expensive all around and we won't have the hassles/ expense of a taxi or shuttle to deal with, we can just get off the ship and be at our car and on our way home much more quickly. Try doing a google search for hotels near port of miami and you'll get a bunch to choose from! Good luck!

We are driving down from NJ and staying at the LaQuinta Airport East in March. We have been told that we can park our rental car there for the week (actually up to 14 days) for free. They also have a shuttle to the port but not from the port to the hotel. So we will have to taxi back to the hotel. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The name of the motel we found in FLL is Ocean Mile Motor Lodge. They have a website you can visit and check it out for yourself. :) We got a rate of $95/night for an effeciency. The prices change as per the season so i'm not sure what they are for Sept. but you should be able to find them on the website-Oceanmilemotorlodge.com. Hope this helps.

Happy Cruising :)
