Dept store close to Aloha Towers?

Is there a Walmart, Target...or Kmart anywhere near the Aloha Tower? We would like to purchase a few sundries prior to our cruise...any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Unfortunately, Target doesn't exist in Hawaii, but maybe one of these days. There is a Kmart along Nimitz Highway as you head towards the airport. Walmart would be out of your way as they are in Mililani and Kunia on the Leeward (west)side of Oahu.

K-Mart is maybe a mile at best EWA (West) of the pier.

You can also walk about 4 blocks Mauka from the pier (towards the mountains) on Fort Street and you will find Macy's, Long's Drug Store, and a Ross'.

3 blocks Diamond Head (East) of Macy's (walking along Hotel Street) is where you'll find Iolani Palace.

Dear Cari....
Interested in your walking directions from Aloha Tower to shopping. We are wanting to buy our wine to carry on at embarkation in Honolulu rather than carry the gazillion miles from home! Do any of the stores you mentioned sell wine? Which? Any preferences?

Longs has a decent wine selection, with discount prices. For something different, try the Pineapple Wine from Maui. (Seriously). It's great with ham.

Longs is the only one of the three that carries wine. [img]http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img] Though the convenience store option in Aloha Tower may still be your best bet for ease of carrying.

Safeway also has a big wine selection. It is located at the corner of Bishop (Pali Highway) and Vineyard. In fact it shares this corner with another Longs Drug Store. It is about 3 or 4 long blocks Mauka (North) of Macy's.

That Safeway is a pretty long walk from Aloha Tower ...
