We are sailing on Feb 7th and the Atlantis is scheduled to launch an hour or so before we sail. My questions is has anyone been caught in the traffic on the way to the Port. We are traveling from Tampa around 11am. We are concerned that we will not get to the ship in time if the traffic is backed up due to the launch. Has anyone been in this situation. We just found out today that the launch is scheduled, which I might add is so exciting. Thanks for any help you can give us.

I recommend you arrive at the port at 11AM. You'll be on the ship before noon, having lunch at the Lido buffet, or lounging in the hot tub!

Traffic does get bad for weekend launches, but the shuttle rarly goes up on the first try so hope that it gets scrubbed the day before. It's going to take you about 2 and 1/2 hours to get from Tampa on a normal day, add an hour to that if the shuttle is still scheduled!

The Space Shuttle Atlantis is scheduled to launch at 2:45 pm...You would be better off getting to the ship as early as possible, and get a great spot on the top deck to watch the launch! How fun would that be!!

Thanks for the information. We are hoping to see the launch beings we have only seen at a distance but the traffic situation really is a concern. Murphy's Law says if I play hookie and we leave early the luanch will not go and if I am a good girl and stay at work until 10:30am like planned and leave then we will get caught in traffic. Oh well-I guess we will wait unti next week and see what happens. One thing forsure is this time next week we will all be having a drink of the day on the Lido Deck.
