Thanks for the replies...we planned on getting there about 9:30 to 10:00...so that is good to know that we don't have to wait till 3 or 4 to get on.

(I was asking because we actually didn't get to our last ship till about an hour before it left. Just made it..lol)

We took our 1st cruise this past summer and the embarkation time was listed as 1:30pm and in Carnival's website it says don't go early because they won't let you on early. Well we got there about 1:15 and had to stand in a really long line and it took over an hour to get on the ship!! I have since heard that it's better to get there early and they will let you on the ship...just not into your room, so for our cruise in April, we're planning on being at the port by 11am!!

We always get to the port early. Once in Miami we got there at eight am. It was because our daughter was getting off the Paradise and we were getting on and I wanted to see her. However of all our cruises it was only at Port Canaveral that we could not even get into the parking garage until after a certain time, which I do not remember. But I do remember that there was a hell of a crowd backed up by the time they let us enter and boarding took two hours.

My wife and I will be on that cruise also. We usually arrive about 11/11:30 and get on board by noon. Unless there is a problem getting everyone off of the last cruise it goes pretty quick.

Another reason to get there early there is a shuttle launch just before we sail traffic could be bad. From the Sensation we will have a fantastic view of the 2:45 liftoff of the shuttle Atlantis. Keep your fingers crossed they stay on schedule.

We fly into Miami tomorrow morning and get there at 8:30 for Carnival Freedom...I figure after getting luggage we might be leaving around 9:15 am, should we go directly to the ship? Or should we hang around in the airport until a little later? I don't know how long it takes to take a taxi from MIA to the docks.
