still guarantee room available 16 days out?

If they are offering guarantees, it does not necessarily mean they have loads of cabins open. Frequently they will offer the guarantee categories at the same time as the specific cabins and then once they sell one or the other neither category will be available. I'm betting your sailing is packed to the brim since it is a President's Week sailing.

So close to a sailing it is best to look at guarantees as the cruise line selling a 'price point' not an actual cabin. They have guarantees and cabins available... whatever price sells first gets the cabins, this is how they are able to sail full.

 

 

Given this informaton it would seem if you can only see one or two cabins available in the assigned cabin list and they are acceptable take the guarantee and see about saving the money. Of course a prior guarantee booking could be upgraded and you could get a lower level in same cat cabin, but that is part of the risk for taking a gntee cabin.

 

Ultimately it depends on how important your cabin in to you.
