jakenashleysmom Posted February 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2008 Last time I checked RC for our sailing (Mariner 2-17), there were still guarantee rooms and family ov's. Any opinions about how full the ship will be at this point with seemingly loads of cabins open?
wrp96 Posted February 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2008 If they are offering guarantees, it does not necessarily mean they have loads of cabins open. Frequently they will offer the guarantee categories at the same time as the specific cabins and then once they sell one or the other neither category will be available. I'm betting your sailing is packed to the brim since it is a President's Week sailing.
lvtotrvl1 Posted February 1, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2008 I agree with WRP...if only guarantees are available the sruise is close to being sold out....Cruiselines love guarantees, because they give alot of room to play with..they can fill the ship easier than stateroom assignments. TwoTravelin Posted February 2, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2008 So close to a sailing it is best to look at guarantees as the cruise line selling a 'price point' not an actual cabin. They have guarantees and cabins available... whatever price sells first gets the cabins, this is how they are able to sail full.
Rancher Dave Posted February 2, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2008 So close to a sailing it is best to look at guarantees as the cruise line selling a 'price point' not an actual cabin. Given this informaton it would seem if you can only see one or two cabins available in the assigned cabin list and they are acceptable take the guarantee and see about saving the money. Of course a prior guarantee booking could be upgraded and you could get a lower level in same cat cabin, but that is part of the risk for taking a gntee cabin. Ultimately it depends on how important your cabin in to you.
jakenashleysmom Posted February 2, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted February 2, 2008 I was looking at it in a totally different way! What you all have said makes sense, and I'm sure this week is going to be sold out as you mentioned. Oh well, just wishfull thinking! Thanks for the replies.
