fundayz Posted February 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2008 I am thinking of giving my future hubby an 'Alaska' basket for Valentine's Day to get him thinking about our honeymoon this summer. I need help with Alaska themed things to include. Know this board is always full of great ideas.
camperhawk Posted February 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2008 I would get him warm gloves, a cashmere scarf, ( just to make it special) and then, a pic of the blue ice or whales or whatever you might get to see!

kates70 Posted February 2, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2008 How about some hot chocolate and cured salmon (not to be eaten together of course!). Or even better, cavier or crab.
Donna - dsw Posted February 2, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2008 Well, since you are cruising - any cruise realted items would be great. How about a ship board credit for a "couples Spa treatment"
Rare Cruise Raider Posted February 2, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2008 I like the gift cert ideas --- but to really personalize it to Alaska, these are the things we found we all things Alaska: Anything with bald eagles, moose, bears, salmon, whales and orcas Didn't really have reason to wear gloves -- just not that cold --- but maybe rain gear -- one with a fleece lining maybe (one jacket should do it all) mini binoculars for whale watching, eagle sightings (although they are everywhere), wildlife in general anything for the camera --- you will want to take lots of pics or videos something fun for the BBQ like a salmon grilling plank, an ulu (chopping device -- totally Alaskan), some smoked sockeye salmon I found a small book --- very cute to have ahead of time -- "How to speak Alaskan" -- terms like sourdough, etc anything related to totem poles, tlinket indian tribes, etc. maybe there are some online sites where you can pre-purchase items from the different known bars --- The Red Onion in Skagway, The Red Dog Salloon in Juneau, etc I love your idea and think you can make up a great little basket with a variety of things pertaining to Alaska. We just love it up there and are semi considering our fifth cruise up that way.
