bill jacobs Posted February 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2008 Is Bikini beach a good choice as a base for a large group on Orient beach or is there a better spot? We need good food activities and of course good frozen drinks. Can a person get umbrellas and chairs just about anywhere on the beach? is there shopping along the beach for the girls? We will be their over spring break on the Glory.

We will be their over spring break on the Glory. There plenty of beach bars that rent loungers/umbrellas and have a casual restaurant attached. The cruise ships tend to send their tour groups to Bikini so that area could be crowded. And it is expensive. There are many threads here about Orient Beach and the beach bars, activities. Here is a link to Ed's panorama map of Orient Beach (several years old). This will give you an basic idea of the beach layout. http://home.carolina.rr.com/photos2005/LargeOrientPanorama.htm
jdmaillet Posted February 3, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2008 We've been to St. Martin twice and have gone to Bikini both times and absolutely love it. Water trampoline for the kids, guavaberry colada's for the parents :). We've been on days when there are quite a few ships in, but have never had a problem getting a chair, umbrella etc. It is expensive. The food especially, but I don't know if it's more so than any other beach joint. And, it's just so beautiful there and the water is great, that it's worth it to us.
