Twilight Zone on The Boards!

It really is disconcerting when the boards go haywire! I can't tell you how many times I've responded to a post, and then realized I was responding to a question or comment that was 2-3 years old!!

It is maddening! But since this has happened numerous times in the last few months, I guess I've gotten to look at the bright side (sort of). At least some interesting posts from loooong ago pop up. It's kind of fun to read them sometimes when it isn't driving you nuts!

I've been struggling over on the Europe board and looking for recent posts is truly crazy! On that board, the most recent posts are at the bottom of EVERY page as far back as you go...I found what I was looking for(Barcelona hotels April/1004) on page 16 preceeded by posts from 2000!!!! No one else seemed to be bothered by it and THAT made me feel even more computer illiterate! Glad/Sorry you guys are encountering the same problems! Nanette
What are you doing way over here on the Hawaii boards? We had to cancel our Med cruise on the Brilliance in August, and now we're doing a land trip to Hawaii that I'm really excited about!

Oh John, our hearts are always in Hawaii. Our great Hawaiian adventure began when I married my husband 29 years ago. He had vacationed in Hawaii most years (big Island/Mauna Kea) since he was a child. The year we were married, being the practical couple we are, chose a Las Vegas honeymoon (and a down payment on a condo) after our lovely wedding, instead of a Mauna Kea honeymoon which would have been the same amount!!! . "His" parents (actually just like mine after all these years), who missed him on their first vacation without him, surprised us with news to "pick up our tickets at the travel agency and fly to Hawaii to meet them" the next day! I had never been to Hawaii and found the culture the most wonderful, amazing thing I have ever known. Hawaii has my heart and soul. We are a musical family(expept for me ) and Hawaiian music is part of our "special occasion" music! On a bad day, we put Hawaiian music on outside and sit by the pool and truly RELAX! From"Live A Little, Hawaiian Style!" to "Coconut Girl," it's all "good!"

Our kids (12 and 23) have the same love for Hawaii (though they sometimes think we go a bit overboard with the music ) that we have. When asked (and of course we don't "ask" anymore) where they'd rather go for vacation, Hawaii is always their first answer!!!

Needless to say, we are going to Barcelona this year with my parents for their 50th...I've always deamed of cruising with my Dad...he's a kick! If the Star had still been doing the islands, we probably would have chosen that...alas, that is not happening, so Barcelona, here we come!

So John, why did you guys cancel the Brillance?! I hope all is well. Take heart, you are going to our favorite place on earth.

Do let me know!

Hope you enjoy your cruise coming up Nanette. I am curious though why u aren't cruising NCLs Pride of Aloha - we have booked Honolulu return Hon. Jan 23 to Jan 30th & can hardly wait. Just adore Hawaii - no place finer on earth with Victoria, BC, Canada (although its a 'bit' cooler there) a close second to us anyway...Happy cruisin'! Hi Cruisecrazy! I just typed this wonderful response and lost it!!!! We did the Star in July 2003 and had a dream trip!

It took the same number of Delta miles to go to Barcelona as Hawaii in August! The Splendour was a great deal. My husband has been dreaming of going to Herculaneum. After some mixed reviews on the Splendour, I hope we won't be too sorry!!! We might go to Hawaii on your cruise yet...my husband's B-day is Jan. 28th, and Hawaii IS his favorite place... I hope James Deering and Tony Lockett are on board with you still! If so, make the effort to talk to them. Super, interesting, great men!

Maybe we'll see you there yet!

Nanette
We had to cancel the Brilliance cruise because of some unexpected schedule conflicts. After the refund process had been completed, we were able to again free up the same time off, and decided to visit Hawaii, which had always been high up on the wish list. We were able to schedule a terrific vacation, and I can't wait to visit Hawaii.I'm sure you know all the really great people who are so generous with their time and insights(too many to name here).I think your Hawaii connection is extraordinary, thanks for sharing. It was great seeing you on the board, and hope to talk to you soon!
Aloha

John, is this your first trip to Hawaii? Yes, there are some wonderful people on these boards with the best information for sure!!! I hesitate to say names because I know I'll forget someone and feel terrible!

Which islands are you going to? I'd love to hear about your plans!

Yes, this is our first visit to Hawaii, although I'm sure it won't be the last. We are staying for the same time frame as our Brilliance cruise, we'll have 12 days in August, booked into the Hilton Hawaiian Village. We plan to do some inter-island travel. The super people on this board have been so generous with insights and ideas that i know that this trip is going to be a rich experience.Glad to talk to you again!
