Seminole Resort and Casino

Hi All!

I am taking my newly widowed mom on a surprise cruise on the enchantment 2/14-2/18, We will be flying out of Indianapolis, so we will leave 2/13. I have already booked the Sheraton Yankee Clipper for the night before the cruise as we will be arriving later on the 13th. Now, we will not be leaving FLL until 2/19 so I have my eye on the Seminole Resort and Casino (my mom LOVES casinos), but the price is SOOO steep (we are not accustomed to this high quality of a joint, trust me, she would be just as happy under a bridge in florida just to be there!) I was wondering if it was actually worth the price or would it be just as fun staying at the Sheraton again and taking a taxi to the casino for the day? We would most likely not need to take advantage of the pool area even if we did stay at the hotel. What do you think? On the other hand, I'm torn, because my mom has NEVER stayed at a nice nice hotel and she might consider this a real treat or she might be mad at me for spending that much on a hotel.

Thanks!

Dawn

If your going to treat your mom to a nice hotel, then you can do better then the Hard Rock, the properties nice but the rooms are not all that great. If you were happy at the Clipper, stay there and take a cab to the casino. Better yet, treat her to the Lago Mar. ;)

Thanks!

I just checked out the Lago Mar, yes, that looks splendid! but it is $380 night, even morePricey! I hate to be a cheapskate, but I just bucked down for a cruise and airfare (and onboard costs) I waited for a long time for the price to drop on the cruise and when it didn't I went ahead and bought 2 weeks out. I'm thinking just taking a taxi from the beach hotel to the casino, unless I check the seminole website while on the cruise and they drop their prices for the following monday - I don't think they will :(

Thanks Again for your help! I appreciate it!

Dawn

I have been to that hotel/casino on several occasions and it is a very nice room, but really not worth it. There are actually 3 seminole casinos about 20 miles apart. There is the one in Hollywood (Hard Rock) and also one almost across the street (the old one with bingo too) and one in Coconut Creek (West of Pompano Beach). The one at the Hard Rock is huge for a seminole casino but very nice. There is a large shopping plaza with numerous restaurants around the property. You can make a day of it, shop, gamble, have lunch or dinner too. Sometimes they run promotions for free play to new members and get a frequent player card to earn points. You may want to rent a car for the day and just sight see. There are some beautiful beaches right there too.

What ever you decide, enjoy time with your Mother! I took mine on a cruise several years ago and we still talk about all the fun we had together (it wasn't too long after we lost my father too). I hope to one day do it again soon!

The Yankee Clipper is very nice and
