Aloha Emi,

Wish we were there to celebrate also. I'd love to see the Cazimero Bros' concert in Waikiki. We're starting to have second thoughts on a Canal Cruise and just might change it to Hawaii. There's a group called Na Leo and one of their songs is "I miss you, my Hawaii" Beautiful song and it seems to be true for us.

For Spleen,

Since I can't find the Merrie Monarch thread, just wanted to let you know that KITV now has the 2003 cds available for $49.95, OUCH! At least I didn't have to pay for shipping The 2004 edition(2 cds) will be out soon. Hope you're enjoying the 2003 edition!

Thanks Emi. I didnt know about Lei day until my daughter's school was making a fuss over it. She had to wear Aloha wear to school yesterday and prepare paper flowers for stringing. Today she jumped out of bead, put on more Aloha wear and informed all of us that we would be spending the day making Leis!

Dan: Oh...that is such a beautiful song!! It gives me chicken skin sitting here just thinking about the song. How wonderful to have you back again...Maybe this time we can meet. That was the cost at Wal-Mart too for the 2003 ones

Suebee: Oh, how cute!! So...what leis are you making today?

J&K: Thanks! Wish I didn't have to work the whole day though...

Shelly: Good question! I know the kids make a big deal out of it at school (as Suebee said) and I found this http://www.co.honolulu.hi.us/parks/programs/leiday/history.htm That gives a bit of a story on its origins, etc. I would say each community would do their different celebrations.

I'm celebrating by wishing all of you a Happy Lei Day!

Mahalo nui loa Emi, and happy Lei Day to you also. I just love Lei Day because Bob always gets me a very special lei.

We're all set to see the Bruddahs Caz tomorrow (Sunday) at the MACC. They always "practice" on Waikiki so they can give Maui "da best" show.

"May Day ... is lei day in Hawaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiii ...."

Which reminds me ... we have friends flying in tomorrow so need to make the trek into Chinatown to get leis for them. Or we may go cheap and go to Costco to get the leis.

Dan - that's annoying that KITV got them back in stock. Hoping that the 2004 DVDs get made soon (though it apppears that it'll only be 2 DVDs long this time around). Hope you get a chance to come back soon - we need to meet up!

Last evening's Brothers Cazamero Lei Day concert on Maui was awesome! They did many of their standards, and some new numbers. Robert did a tribute to the `aina the left us teary eyed and with chicken skin...
