LKN-NC Posted February 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2008 I think it depends on how many ships in port and order of arrival. We were on the Jewel too and supposed to dock right in front of the fort, but the space was filled by another ship so we docked to the right of Akerhus Slott. It was a quick walk along the fort to the harbor area, ferries, etc. We took the ferry to the museums (Viking, Fram and Kon-Tiki) then back to the Nobel Peace museum. We then took a walk through the city center with some stops along the way as we made our way back to the ship. It was probably the easiest port to explore and we loved seeing the beautiful homes between the ferry dock and the various ship museums. (the folk museum was closed when we visited in September)
eh2zed Posted February 7, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2008 The best berth is no doubt at the base of the fort and within sight of the award winning City Hall. The other berths are in the same vicinity just a bit further removed. Great walkable City downtown. Take the ferry or the HOHO to the museums across the harbour.
