seaterm Posted February 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2008 Does anyone know the brand names of wines they use when you purchase a wine card, I'm interested in red wines. Will be on the Westerdam March 9th.
LoyHAL Posted February 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2008 It's whatever the house wine is -- or should I say 'ship wine'? ;) I don't remember the label, but it was the same wine we were gifted with by our TA. It's not fabulous wine, but it's not bad wine either. I think I was most put out when I saw wines we can buy at our supermarket on the wine list for over $40 a bottle! We had a wine card on our last cruise and will do it again on the next. I especially liked being able to use it for a glass of sparkling wine before dinner, without having to consume a whole bottle! Hope this helps. Cheers! LoyHAL
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2008 Really depends on the ship. On one ship we had one brand of red wine - which was okay. But on our recent Ryndam cruise -- it was a much better red wine -- didn't have a bitter taste. I can never remember the names of the wines. mp006 Posted February 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2008 How much is the wine card and how does it work?
jtl513 Posted February 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2008 How much is the wine card and how does it work? The 10-glass card is $41.40 ($36+15% service charge) and the 20-glass card is $77.63 ($67.50+15%). Each punch gets you one glass of "house" Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, White Zinfandel, or "Sparkling Wine".
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 8, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2008 For 2 people, we found it a great bargain to have a glass of wine at dinner each night.
