gypsyrose Posted February 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2008 Talking about the waterproof thing in the CC store, not a CC beach. I was looking at this and wondering if it is indeed waterproof. It doesn't look like it is made real good, but hard to tell. Trying to decide whether to purchase this or wait and get something in the gift shop. Not really planning on swimming w/ it, just will have it around the beach and the pool.
Slowboat2 Posted February 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2008 I purcahsed one of those in 2000, and it still works just fine. I have snorkeled with it every year since. A little trick is to coat the rubber gasket with a fine coat of vasoline if you haven't used it in awhile. It helps to keep the gasket soft and plyable. Also when your done with it , don't snap it closed. It will keep your credit cards and cash dry.
KandCsailing Posted February 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2008 The CC beach safe is pretty much the same one as I bought on Carnival Glory. Only difference is mine is red and has a carnival logo. You can always test it in a sink at home to make sure it is still waterproof. If you really want to be careful, put things in a small ziploc bag inside the beach safe. I would most likely do that if I ever had to risk my passport in it. Well, i hate to be critical, but i bought 2 and they opened way to easily..I've had some in the past (other brand) in which the clasps were more secure and a little harder to open which is good when you'e snorkeling and taking pictures. I ended up securing it with a rubber band, which should be unnecessary.
popcorngal Posted February 10, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2008 Unfortunately, ours wasn't very waterproof either. I didn't test it before we left, and it just didn't seal tight enough.
