Hi, we are cruising on the Star this coming Tuesday and were looking for some positive feed back. Anyone know what is happening regarding the Norovirus? Are people still getting sick on the ship?

Thanks, happy cruising everyone!:D

They were last week. We were fine, but I washed my hands so much, they are now chapped! I think they did the best they could stopping it from spreading. They did everything from serving us our drinks and food at the buffet, to constantly cleaning railings and even spraying our suitcase handles on the way in and out. I wish they had been more diligent about washing down the buffet and outside tables though, as well as washing the casino machines.

One of the crew members said it was as bad as the previous week, but I haven't seen it on the CDC site this week and by the end of the week, the captains long long speaches on washing our hands wound way down.

When we were about to board, we were given a paper to sign saying we were not ill..and that because over 10% were the week before, if we wanted to change our minds, we could, and get our ship cruise cost back. We weren't able to board right away, because they were still cleaning and inspecting.

Hi, thank you for your reply! I wanted to ask you a few more questions, if I could? We are travelling with 2 small children and I was wondering how long you had to wait to get on the ship? Was it a big delay?

I also keep checking the CDC website and it's happening on 2 other cruise lines right now as well. I think it may just be that time of year ...

Otherwise, how was the cruise? Any recommendations?? Thanks so much!

We got there at eleven, so our wait was a longer one. We went up and checked in, and then had to return to our seats. However, people that got there much later (I didn't look at the clock..sorry) got to check in and go right on..and then we were called, and we mixed in with them.

I had a book to read, so I was fine.

The cruise was fine...I've never had a bad one. Bring flip flops or water shoes when you take the kids to the pool..the floor was mighty hot! We did try to eat at 6:30, and so did the rest of the ship, so I suggest earlier. You'll see a big line when the dining rooms first open, but they sit them fast, so the line will go fast.

One mistake we made when we had to get off for a non ship sponsored tour, was to go to the dining room for breakfast. It's pretty crowded and slow in the morning, when so many wished to get off. I would suggest the buffet on a morning like that. It was frustrating waiting so long for our food. We found the Blue Lagoon to be pretty quick, although it is pretty simple food (but good).

If you want to make reservations for the specialty restaurants, you might want to do them early in the week. It gets much harder to get anything other than 9:30 towards the end of the week..people suddenly realize the service it better (well, most of the time..we got our meat but no veggies for awhile in Gagney's) in the smaller restaurants, and the reservations fill up.

Another suggestion with kids..you might want to bring a taller cup with a top on it, in case they are still serving your drinks (cause it's one at a time, on each side of the drink area). That way you can get more, and it will stay cold.

The kids in the young kids program seemed to really be having a good time..the people leading them seemed to really be enjoying the kids.

When was your Star cruise? I didn't see a date, so I wondered if you were onboard when the Noro was around.

A couple differences, between your cruise and ours...our fridge was filled with mini bar stuff..and our cabin person said he couldn't remove it..but he would put it on the shelf above the TV. We told him not to bother, since our water fit.

The internet useage prices actually ended up being a lot less per minute (and so we didn't have to spend port time on the computer), as we took advantage of daily specials..such as 10 minutes free with 20 minute useage, extra minutes for being a Lattidue member, 50% off Happy hour. We ended up with over an hour free, which brought the prices down considerably per minute.

Disembarkation was different this time around for us. Everyone had to go up to the Spinnaker to clear customs, and they stamped our form and gave us a paper to give once leaving the terminal. We had a ships tour the same day, so it was easier for us..but some people were not happy having to go upstairs, especially since the elevators were very crowded, with all the people having to get up there. For us it went very smoothly.

We thought most of the evening entertainment was very good. Staying awake for it (early show was very crowded) was the hard part!

I did wish that the dailies had more things such as Triva (we played and our group came in third) the progressive Tiriva, but we missed a lot..I would rather it just be scored each time. Prizes weren't that good, to make it be progressive. Also, it seemed there were more activities while we were in port, than on sea days. The CD was older than what we usually have, and we didn't think as enthusiastic.

Read my review very nice ship.

I believe it was a full refund..of the cost of the cruise (we signed the paper and turned it back in, so I can't look). Airfare wasn't mentioned If I remember right, and we paid for that apart from the cruise, plus our one night hotel. We never considered it anyway.
