Athens Taxi

What is the approx. cost of a taxi from Plaka to Pireaus? Are taxis readily available in/around the Plaka area? Would you recommend for 4 ladies traveling together?

I paid 15 euro from Piraeus to the Hilton, which is not far from the Plaka. No luggage.

When was it that you paid 15 euros? We are staying in Athens Hilton after our cruise in April and Hilton told me the taxi cost is ~ 30 euros.

This was May 2007. I did not take it from the ship terminal, but the ferry terminal. They are about a mile from each other.

We were in Athens this past November and started walking from the ship to the train station with another random couple from the ship. As a taxi was passing us on the street, we asked the other couple if they wanted to share a taxi to the Plaka. We ended up paying 15 euros for 4 of us. Considering that it saved us at least 30-40 minutes on our only day in Athens, we felt it was well worth it.

We paid 22 Euros from Piraeus to the Acropolis and 20 Euros from the Plaka back to the ship. No problem getting a taxi in either location.
