snorkle with the rays

We took the snorkle tour with Native Way Sports to swim with the rays and snorkle at Coral Gardens. This is the same tour the ship offers only it is $40.00 less and has about 50 people less. It was a great time! Our 11 year old had a blast swimming and touching the rays. And for those of you who believe that human interaction with the rays are in some way harming the rays you should do some research. Since the early 70's marine biologist have been keeping an eye on the situation. The rays at Stingray City grow larger, live longer and reproduce more often than rays in the wild. The rays did not mind being handled. They seemed to enjoy it. They never tried to get away, they allowed us to touch and "pet" them. We purchased the video and have enjoyed watching it several times. Ruth did a great job capturing everyone and the excitment of the day. I would recommend Native Way to anyone. It was great!

Thanks,

Debbie

Yes they have a web site http://www.nativewaywatersports.com or you can email them directly at nativway@candw.ky the owner is Sharon. The cost was only $25.00 and it was the same tour the ship offered for $65.00. We had about 12 on our boat and it was loads of fun. They meet you at the peir and drive you to the dock to their boat. The video was $45.00 and the DVD was $65.00. We bougt the DVD and have enjoyed watching it. Our son is going to use it for a school project on rays. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Yes we did the stingray city and coral gardens tour. It lasted about 3 hours. We booked in advance but did not pay until we boarded the boat. Sometimes they require a deposit. We paid by credit card. We had our 11 year old, our 22 year old son, our 25 year old daughter and our future son-in-law with us and everyone had a blast. The snorkeling was good. Our guide coaxed an eel out for us to get a good look at. We also saw lots of fish and a baracuda. This was our first (and only) time in the Caymans. Hope your cruise is as much fun as ours.

We went with NativeWay for the second time at the beginning of September...just before the hurricane hit. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about NativeWay - they were great again! This time we did a full day (5 hr tour) 2 snorkle stops w/a huge morrey eel, then a relaxing lunch at Rum Point, then on to the StingRay stop. Native Way seemed to keep us away from the crowds both times and plenty of one to one time with the rays. We had 10 people on our boat for the day and indiidual attention with the two guides. The 3 stop & lunch tour was $50 each and very well worth it. We did the shorter tour the first time. We enjoyed the longer tour to get more water & snorkle time. You will love either one!!:)
