jgiczewski Posted February 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2008 I fear cruising in december for 3 reasons. 1) flights out of chicago most like will be cancelled 2) too many kids 3) the cost increase. However DH really want to start cruising and we are in need of a cruise sometime either the week before or the week after christmas. (That is when he has off of class) Any suggestions on itineraries? truffles2 Posted February 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Go a day early to avoid flight delays. Also buy insurance. There won't be a lot of kids in early December and the prices are quite reasonable at that time. The Southern Caribbean will have nice warm weather. Farther north (Bahamas, etc.) it could be "iffy". Ronnie3750 Posted February 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2008 We loved our cruise on Freedom of the Seas this past Christmas. The week before Christmas was about half the price we paid. The week after Christmas included New Year's and it was also premium pricing. The week after New Years was a bargain again.
RetireeWannabee Posted February 12, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Definitely plan to go a day (or even 2) ahead of time to allow for flight delays. Check prices on your desired cruises and see which fit the best air rates. Congrats on your decision to depart the midwest in December!
Cincy-David Posted February 12, 2008 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Congtrats on your decision. Pricing is something you have to decide on for yourself, but do not shy away from the Eastern routes in December, they are just beautiful and the weather will almost always be perfect. I have done this twice in December with great success both times. Click on my photos for the Mariner or Radiance in my signature for some shots. Happy Cruising.
