vickiw0318 Posted February 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2008 Just wanted to give a positive review of this excursion. We took it last week. We were out for six hours - an hour longer than the posted 5. We motored out to the island at a fairly good clip and over some fairly high waves that day. Those on the front of the boat got pretty wet. (It was actually fun!) The snorkeling wasn't the easiest going out to the reef because of the waves, but first mate, Achille, was a great tour guide and the return was simple - you just floated back to the boat. Lunch onboard (West Indies style) was surprisingly good. We stopped briefly on the way out to pick it up. It consisted of jerk chicken, beans and rice, some sort of pumpkin + other veggie dish (DH said it was very good), garlic bread and some good mac and cheese in case the youngsters didn't feel adventurous. Rum cake was served later in the cruise. After lunch, we went to a cove on Bird Island - some of us swam, others climbed to the top of the island. We sailed part of the way back. There was an open bar with soft drinks and water available before snorkeling and rum punch and beer added thereafter. I am not a drinker, but the punch was evidently a hit because they kept making more. Captain Sheldon and first mate Achille did a great job and had just the right amount of commentary on the journey. There were about 30 of us on the excursion. The cost was $84 per person. We all thought we got a great value for our dollars.

piper Posted March 30, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2008 Thanks vickiw - we are thinking of doing this excursion on our 4/12 sail. Was the trail up to the lookout point very difficult? Was it worth the exertion? :-)
