I know Carnival provides lunch on the island, but I was wondering about drinks. Do you pay cash or use your S&S card? Thanks in advance for any answers. 2 days till Carnival Triumph:D

S&S card. The only cash you would need would be for tips if doing excursions or for purchases in the little shops by the tender port.

I don't think you can since the people who run those shops do not work for Carnival. They are independent shop keepers. I am sure someone who knows for sure will chime in.

There are two sets of shops on HMC...there's a 'straw market' off to one side of the main welcome center where a few independent vendors accept cash only. There's a cruise-ship run gift shop at the back of the welcome center that only accepts S&S cards.

 

Drinks provided at the barbeque lunch are free (same as ship Lido drinks; water, tea, juice, etc.) There is a 'rumrunners bar' and a 'I wish I could stay here forever' bar where you can buy alcoholic drinks on your S&S card. The latter is an excellent photo op -- the 'I wish I could stay here forever' sign, the beach, the ocean and the ship in one photo.
