Alternative Miami Parking options?

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a cheaper way to park our car while on a cruise out of Miami. We paid the $20 a day in Decemeber, but split it between 2 couples so it wasn't so bad. DH and I are currently planning a cruise out of Miami with just the two of us for Oct. and are looking for an alternative to the expensive pier parking. Are there hotels we can stay at for a night before the cruise and leave our car there while we cruise? Are there less expensive parking garages anywhere near the port? We're still relatively new to cruising so any advice from the seasoned experts would be appreciated!
