Oma24boys Posted September 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2004 I read somewhere and have not been able to find information on a shopping area in Belize. It is not where ship's passengers and tendered to. Has anyone heard of it? Thanks!
groovybaby76 Posted September 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2004 RE: Was just there on Thursday...not much in the way of shopping in my opinion. There are a few stores (jewlery, pharmacy, purses and bagsk, t-shirts, etc) when you first get off the tenders at the tourist city party...but walk too far from that and it's a scary place. We took and excursion that took us to one of the other islands and there was some local art and things like that to buy, but I would definitely not view Belize as prime shopping material. Hope that helps.
goldsnn Posted September 22, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2004 If you've been to St. Thomas you could be disappointed. Very little to do in the town of Belize. Shops are very small in size, and prices are only a little reasonable, no big deals. You can get off the ship for a little shopping, back for lunch and a nap by the pool in the afternoon. Oma24boys Posted September 22, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted September 22, 2004 The shopping area I was looking for is called the National Crafts Market...it is by the Radison. I have sent an email to the Belize Chamber of Commerce to get additional information. Thanks for the responses!:)
rjscott Posted September 27, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2004 We went to the National Craft Center. It is a small shop, with a limited variety of items. The prices seem good for the island, so if you feel you are helping the economy in Belize by buying a item or two, this is probably the best place to do it. The National Craft Center is a very short walk from the shops along the pier. Anyone should be able to direct you there from the pier. Thanks again!:)
