Questions that I rather ask than find out in person

Where exactly is the brig on the ships? How secure are they? Do they charge passengers extra who are locked in the brig? What do they feed them and do they still get to order off then menu?

I am not going to ask the absurd questions about the people in the brig like "Do they only get breadsticks and water?" and "Do they have to dress up for formal dinners?"

Just curious! :)

the brig is located in a crew only area and its secure enough that if your in you aint getting out til they want to let you out ----no they dont charge you extra- as a matter of fact you get a credit for time served in the brig for your next cruise because you didnt use the facilities while in the brig ---you are expected to tip all service crew men such as room steward and d/r waiters even though you didnt use their services while you were in the brig----------they will most likely feed you out of the crew mess-- i doubt that you will get a menu

curious question --is this a pot stirrer because some of my answers are

I heard if you get in good with the staff, or if you are a way cool captain club guru, they will give you behind the scene tour of the ship. I want to see the morge and the brig.

Anyone on a Halloween cruise? I double dog dare you to ask to see the morgue Halloween night.

Happy cruising!

less than 12 days till I set sail

Better to know where the brig is than know where the morgue is....and ,yes, there are morgues on the ships. If the light is on and it's green...there's a body... :D

whats gree? the light or the body? a body has to lay around a long time to get green.......unfortunately i know these things:)

Boby, body, who's got the body??

Yes, there is a brig Virgina. You would only be in there until the next port or you sobered up. There's a morgue and a Doctor's Office, a kitchen (or three), a pool, a table and some chairs (according to some people not enough near the pool or they are taken by those things called hogs). There is even beeds for the crew not that they need them with us working them 24 hours a day but hey who am I to complain. :)

Unfortunately it is almost impossible to see non-passenger areas due to the enhanced security regulations. I tried to see the bridge, engine room, and clothes dryers (long story on that one) during my last cruise. All I got to see was the galley areas (see my web site for pictures!)

The post, believe it or not, was actually serious! It popped up after an obscure reference to the brig was made in the SLAMO cruise thread (Hi Newt! got you to post!) :)

Having a daughter who worked for several years for a cruise line...we've actually gotten to visit all those places that pax don't normally get to go...even the sewage system  It is very interesting but might take away some of the pleasure of "just getting to cruise". We were on the bridge through the Panama Canal the last of Sept. 01....Coast Guard had run us off the bridge as we left San Francisco....but our daughter talked the Captain into letting us come up while going through the locks. Very interesting...the "big" thing is to not hit on either side...otherwise, you have to do some painting at the next port...we noticed crew painting at our next location... :D

I know the post was serious but I wanted to add a little fun, since now you would not be permitted there unless it was really needed. If it is needed someone will be having a bad cruise. Mine was a tongue in cheek thing.

The ship's now-a-days have everything that a small city has.

Fun is always good.

So where are the Wal-Mart, the Starbucks and the Blockbuster? :) (I won't even mention the McDonalds!) :):) (Except, maybe , on Carnival....) :)

So like this "credit", can I get thrown in the brig on the Zenith and use my credit on an M class?

you can use the credit to upgrade your meal while in the brig ---remember for exercise they take you to the casino while in port (and the casino is closed)

remember to tip the guy with the cell keys

i am a believer of the policy dont ask dont tell --but you ever make it to the brig tell juan the head jailer that lougee says hi
Hypothetically speaking since you really do not know the brig on any ship, on which ship would I ask for Juan and tell him that lougee says hi? I presume that this would be the Zenith based on the earlier comments- but that is just a supposition on my part. Or is Juan a code name for the jailer on all Celebrity ships and you have an acquaintence with more than one?:):D

dont ask dont tell ---if juan is on vacation ask for jose

on a hal cruise we once met the master at arms- this was one mean looking guy and you knew at once you didnt want to fool with him --the captain said he was also in charge of "crew discipline"-------------could imagine him keelhauling a waiter for dropping something in the d/r
