Cruising the Med-Oct/Nov

Recommended Posts

Has anyone done an eastern med cruise at this time of year,if so, what was the weather like and did you experience any rough seas?I have just booked NOS for a cruise 31/10 to 10/11 and my sons family are coming with us but my DIL is very nervous about sailing and has never been on a cruise ship before.I was wondering how I reassure her.

We did the Med/Greek Islands etc. during that time period and had good weather. No rough seas to speak of (altho it CAN get rough in the Greek Islands)--Navigator can handle it and you will hardly notice anything. There were some cool breezy days so be prepared to layer clothing.

We did as east Med. cruise on Legend last Nov.(4th to 18th) and the seas were not too rough at all. The worst was when we had to stay in Rhodes an extra night thus lost our stop in Cyprus due to gale force winds. This was the storm that cause oil tankers to sink in the Black Sea but the passage to Egypt after that storm wasn't bad. You don't have large expanses of water here compared to Pacific or even the Caribbean where storms can roll in from the Atlantic. I've seen much rougher seas in these areas than on my four cruises in the Mediterranean.

The only other thing was while the weather was fine in Greece, Turkey and Egypt, it was very cool (in the fifties deg. F) when we got back to Italy which had a port stop in Naples and disbarkation in Rome (Civitavecchia.
