beachdweller Posted September 22, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2004 I just received information from a place called coral sands beach resort on a private island called water caye, right next to the where the cruise ships anchor.... has anyone been there? They told me they just opened last month and that there the only beach in Belize city.... They said it takes 15 min from the ship and 25min from the tourist village. Some one else told me the place was beautiful.... said they had a great bar, music, kayaking etc.. can anyone verify this info..:)
port-a-princess Posted September 22, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2004 We went to coral sands on 9/9 and it was awsome. The food was excellent and the bar was really cool everything there is thatch so it feel like you in a little village on a deserted island. The beach was wonderful and because they just opened we had the run of the place so it was great. Two thumbs up for Coral sands beach resort....:D
montgomeryfamily Posted September 22, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2004 How did you get there and how much did it cost? Also, was there an admission charge for the beach? Did you snorkel? Can you give us some more details about costs and what you did specifically? Thanks. Kathy

montgomeryfamily Posted September 24, 2004 #10 Share Posted September 24, 2004 When it appeared we weren't getting much information in response to our posts, I managed to find an email address for Coral Sands Beach Resort and emailed them for more information. They send me a sheet with detailed information about the resort and the various services offered, including prices. I tried to upload it and attach it, but I got a message that it is too big. I will try to divide it up and attach it in smaller pieces. This may require several postings on my part, so please be patient. They also have a website, but it doesn't appear to be working quite properly yet. I emailed them for additional information and will post that when I receive it. I will also post the website address once I know it is working. I've never been to this resort, so I would still like feedback from others who have been. It was built to cater to cruise ship passengers and day guests. Apparently it is very new so many cruise ship passengers probably haven't been. But I would appreciate it if you have been if you would post a review or at least give us feedback on the resort and any of the activities you may have done, such as snorkeling. montgomeryfamily Posted September 24, 2004 #11 Share Posted September 24, 2004 Hey everyone, I tried to divide the document I received from Coral Sands into small pieces, but even the smallest piece was apparently too large to upload as an attachment. So I am copying and posting the basic information here. Coral Sands Beach Resort Fact Sheet Coral Sands Beach Resort is a Caribbean getaway stretched out on 20 acres of Water Caye. The resort consists of a thatched open-air bar and pavilion which sits on a 1000-ft beach facing the barrier reef. Lining the shore are 40 thatch cabana style huts, including beach chairs and tables with drink service availability. Bathroom facilities are available. There is a kitchen and food preparation area and our Guest Service center is easily visible and accessible upon arrival. For the safety and convenience of guests there is also a First Aid Station and Gift Shop on the property. Seating areas with chairs and hammocks are scattered throughout the resort. All resort staff are CPR trained. All tour operators are licensed, insured and certified for their specific area of expertise. Licensed tender boat operators will bring guests directly from the cruise ship to Water Caye. The distance is approximately 4.5 miles from the current anchoring locations (10 min.). From the resort guests will be able to embark on their selected excursions both beginning and ending their day with the comforts of Coral Sands Beach Resort. For guests leaving from Belize City tender boat service is available from the Marina at the Princess Hotel. The distance from Belize City is approximately 10 miles and or a 25min. boat ride. Kathy - we're on the Grand the week before you, so any info you can share on this place, or how to contact them directly would be greatly appreciated. I didn't think the cruise ships let non-cruise organized excursions pick-up & drop off at the ship ... but if they can, I'd be very interested in possibly booking one of their 'activities' ..... montgomeryfamily Posted September 25, 2004 #18 Share Posted September 25, 2004 Port-a-Princess, you are the only one who has posted as having been to this resort. Please tell us how you got there. Which cruise ship were you on? Did you find the phone number you posted and call them for pick-up or what? Were you taken there by car or boat? When you got there, how far from the drop off point was it to the beach area? What was the charge? What did you do when you got there? Did you just enjoy the beach or did you participate in any of the activities? Did you eat lunch? If so, what did you have and how was the food. Please describe the bathrooms and compare them to American standards. It would be nice to have a full review, but if not, then please at least provide information to answer the questions I asked. Thanks. Kathy

Wendya2J, The water taxis do not go to Coral Sands Beach Resort. You would have to arrange tendering directly with them. You can use that number to contact them 001-501-223-6574.........or email them at marketing@coralsandsbelize.com. I called the hotel I was stayng at and got that information. I was told their website (http://www.coralsandsbelize.com) will be up today. Hope this information helps. :D

port-a-princess Posted September 27, 2004 #23 Share Posted September 27, 2004 sorry guys, I got that info from the hotel my friend was staying at. They are the ones that told me about Coral sands. I was in Belize on the Grandeur on the 9th of September. to answer your question Kathy, the food was barbque and excellent. As far as the excursion i just used Kayaking which was great. The only down part to my stay was that the bathrooms were portable toilets, however, that didn't affect our time there as a group. If you are looking for a time to relax on the beach, its exactly what you'll get out of the experience. I was happy with the deal I got.
montgomeryfamily Posted September 27, 2004 #24 Share Posted September 27, 2004 Port-a-Princess, how much was the cost of your kayaking? Did it also include the food and the beach time? Is it possible to snorkel off of the beach? Is the beach under the water right off of the beach rocky, smooth sand, growing with any plants, or some combinations. When you went swimming, did you see any fish? Were there beach chairs? If there were, were they the sand chairs or the lounge chair type? Were there umbrellas at the beach chairs? port-a-princess Posted September 27, 2004 #25 Share Posted September 27, 2004 Port-a-Princess, it is interesting how you continually give contact information about this resort, but you won't answer any of the specific questions that I and others have asked about the resort and your experiences there. Even though you are a new poster to this board, whose first posts were an endorsement of this resort, I have given you the benefit of the doubt in regard to your posts. But IF you really have been there, you would share with the others on this board your personal experiences at this resort, including what you did, what you paid, and the answers to the other questions I previously posted. I urge you to do so and validate your credibility. Kathy Hey kathy, Sorry you questioned my credibility...but if you see now I have spoken about my experience on the island. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to go into message boards as much as I'd like to. Basically, during my stay in belize I realized not many people knew that there aren't any beaches here. So I thought I'd lend a helping hand to all those in search of a beach. As far as the money I spent there, $47 to get to the island, use of the beach an dhaving lunch. I also spent $30 for two hours of Kayaking. Other than that, I spent some money at the bar for my drinks. I hope this information helps you. Bcs they are newly opened and treated me very well. I thought I'd help them out . so please give them the benefit of the doubt. Thanks, Port-a-princess
