Avril Posted February 25, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2008 My fiancee and I are sailing on the Valor's Eastern Caribbean itinerary in October :D and to save money (we hope), we're planning on not doing any shore excursions (not Carnival or independant - none). I was just wondering, what do you suggest we do on our own in St. Thomas? We like beaches, shopping, exploring the towns we're in and hanging out at places like Margaritaville (sp) and Sr. Frogs. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!! :D
The Islander Posted March 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2008 Carnival ships usually dock in Havensight. You could walk to town (Charlotte Amalie), its about 1.4 miles if you walk around Yacht Haven Marina just next to Havensight and a little shorter if you walk through the Marina property. Charlotte Amalie has historic sites, shops, bars/restaurants. You could take a taxi to the closest beach from Havensight, which is Morningstar. Havensight has shops & bars/resturants, could walk around that area. The marina previously mentioned also has shops and its right next to Havensight. You could walk to town for a couple hours, walk back and have lunch on the ship if that saves you money on lunch and then head to Morningstar. --Islander
