Eastern Caribbean Excursions

We are going on Explorer on 3/28/08. Which excursions would you recommend going on? We like beaches and water sports. Would you book these trips on your own or book online through RCCL? Any info would be helpful....:D

It really depends on how adventurous you want to be. By and large you can easily get to some great beaches by yourself using taxis or other local transportation at a reasonable cost and then rent loungers, umbreallas, water sports equipment, etc. when you get there. For the Eastern Caribbean, we go to Lindbergh Beach in St. Thomas and plan to go to Little Divi Bay Beach in St. Maarten this year (have gone horse-riding in the past). In both cases it will be around $20.00 round trip for the taxi and another $20 - $30. for loungers and beach umbrealla. Generally for beach excursions it is less expensive to do it yourself.

Have you signed up for your Roll Call yet? There are probably lots of people there who could give you more specific information about your particular cruise.

If you just want to go to the beach, get a cab and go! There's no need to pay for an excursion for a beach day!

Active or historical excursions will be dependant on what interests you!

We were on the Explorer for Eastern Caribbean last summer. If it is the same ports I recommend Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda (take a ferry into Hamilton and get a bus from there) and Orient Beach in St. Martin (taxi buses outside the terminal will take you there). In St. Thomas, consider the St. John Beach tour to snorkel at Trunk Bay. Make sure it is the tour to Trunk Bay. :) They have a BEAUTIFUL beach (one of the most beautiful in the world) and snorkel park with a marked trail. It is about $59.00 for adults. Last year we saw lots of fish because it was an early morning start. We enjoyed it so much we booked the tour again this year on the Serenade in March.

You will enjoy the Explorer. It is a beautiful ship!!
