Need Honolulu restaurant recommendations

Is that Americanized Chinese? A few years back our server from the HHV recommended Fook Yuen (spelling phonetically here). DH and I loved it, but we eat in NY's Chinatown quite often. Mom and Dad weren't used to the "very" Chinese food and went out to eat afterwards.

The food looked very different from what they're used to. They eat in NY's American type Chinese restaurants.

It's a fairly Americanized chinese menu. There were some dishes that might strike you as odd, but most of them you can find in just about any Chinese restaurant - unless of course, you're in China - then none of them appear on the menu! Go figure!

Prices are very reasonable (for Honolulu) and we've never had a problem with consistency. And they seriously love kids there, so you'll see lots of families, especially on the weekend.

We like Maple Garden, too . . . and Little Village is great. If you like Thai, Phuket Thai is excellent. For really inexpensive, good Vietnamese food - Hale Vietnam. For great, inexpensive diner food that is all local - Big City Diner. For yummy Mexican food - Quintero's. If you're yearning for a Guinness and home-style food - Murphy's. I find that most tourists don't enjoy Hawaiian food, but if you want to give it a try, it doesn't get better than Ono Hawaiian Foods. Can you tell we love to eat out!:D
