I heart Quebec

Recommended Posts

Somebody recently suggested that I hate Quebec because of a comment I made about the billions that Alberta has "contributed" to Quebec. While my comment probably should not have been made on cruise critic I do not see the logical connection. If your brother was sleeping on your couch, did not have a job and paid for his booze and ciggies out of your wallet you probably would not like this either but I doubt anybody would suggest you hate your brother. That being said I thought I should start a threat where people can say nice things about Quebec. It is a beautiful province.

Quebec is a beautiful province, so is Nova Scotia, BC AND Alberta... people don't know what they are missing if they don't spend some time in Alberta.. it's a great alternative for a couple of days (or a week like we did) before a Vancouver cruise.. Calgary is way cool, Waterton Lakes and Going to Sun Highway a gorgeous day and the gardens in Banff, sky trams, rafting the Athabasca... you too live in a beautiful place and I'd trade ya any day...

so now back to Quebec... after my little ad for Alberta.

If you are cruising from Quebec check airfare to Montreal and Quebec... it's often much much cheaper to go into Montreal and if you have a few days you can spend one there and then head to Quebec .. about 100 miles (?) by highway or there is great train service.

Caroline. As I point out in my blog, it's actually sometimes MUCH cheaper to fly into Burlington, VT if you are going to Montreal. Problem for most people is how to get to and from Burlington to Montreal. There are also flights now from Plattsburgh, NY.

We often drive down to Burlington to take a flight. I've never called and asked, but I do know that Everywhere Taxi of Vermont does provide transport to and from BTV (Burlington Airport) and Montreal. And I think that Vermont Chauffeured Transportation might as well.

Useful for some of the cruisers as fall cruises leave on smaller ships from Montreal. (The larger ships can only make it up to Quebec City. I think they can't make it under the bridge at Trois Rivieres.

I love the people and architecture of Montreal - especially their liberal live and let live values. And lastly, the rubber wheels on the subway make it the best in the world!
