Local bar close to pier? Looking for something different from Hard Rock Cafe

We have an early String Ray and Rum Point Beach excursion that should be finished by 1 pm. We don't sail until 5 pm. We're looking for a nice little local bar, preferably beachside to have a few drinks and maybe a little good local food before sailing. Any suggestions. We're not really into the whole Hard Rock Cafe thing....

Does not exist. Beachside bars (particularly in the George Town area) are not "local" bars. High rents demands that such establishments cater to a high volume of customers and as such these are most definitely "tourist" bars.

 

For local bars try:

Kellys Bar on Birch Tree Hill Road, West Bay

South Coast Bar in Breakers (it's even seaside)

Country Western Bar in Red Bay

Nicho Norte in Old Man Bay

ShirReynolds on Eastern Avenue

 

On second thought, you're probably much better off sticking to a tourist bar. Get a cab to drop you at the Sunset House Hotel so you can enjoy My Bar. It is waterfront... but no beach in sight, and rarely crowded.
