NOS how much movement will I feel?

Recommended Posts

We are sailing NOS on the 15th to Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Can anyone give me an idea of how much of the ships movement I might feel? I have a sensitive stomach and on our last cruise around Hawaii I had to take Meclizine, which turned out to be the only thing that worked for me. We felt so much movement and I had been told by frequent cruisers that I would never feel a thing on that ship - but I sure did (it was NCL).

I'm not at all sensitive to motion, and I never get seasick, but I do always feel the ship moving! Sometimes, it's more than others--it totally depends on the seas! If you are truly bothered by the motion, start taking SOMETHING the day before you leave, and continue throughout the trip. Better to prevent, than try and get a handle on it later!

Absolutely great advice. :)

Yep, had to learn that lesson the hard way on our first cruise. I was so sick the first night! The second the ship was out of port - I couldn't believe how sick I was! I was so miserable - I lost my dinner almost immediately and then begged my poor DH to get me off the ship!!! Although I don't usually respond well to any medications, the meclizine my DH found at the main desk worked wonders with NO side effects! It was my new best friend! As you have all said, better to be safe than sorry, and I don't want to spend my first night with my head in the trash can again!! I'll be packing my own drugs since I'm not sure if NOS will have it onboard.

I was on NOS last week and it was VERY windy...at night we could feel some side to side motion as we walked up the aisles in the Metropolitan ...had to actually touch the backs of seats on the way up (sat in front) just for balance sometimes.

I have a touchy stomach and it didn't bother me at all--but I had my meds in case they did!

I'd only cruised once before (on a much smaller ship) and never experienced the "sea legs" thing getting off NOS like we did getting off the smaller ship (Carnival Imagination)

Enjoy your cruise!
