NCL Gem activities for 3 year old, can parents participate?

I'll be on the Gem in 2 weeks and was wondering if parents are allowed in the play areas or do you have to drop the child off with staff? I am particularly interested in the pool and jungle gym. My 3 year old has a mild sensory disorder and is very sensitive to change/new people. I highly doubt she would be up for staying with the crew, we are bringing the grandmothers along so we can have some free nights just for this reason. Thanks for any info.

Unfortunately, cruise lines do not allow adults to stay in the play area with the groups. I guess it's because if they allowed this, you could have a lot of problems with space and parental interferrence with things. You could ask and tell them of your situation, but don't be surprised if they say no. But, these counselors handle kids with conditions all the time, so your child won't be something they haven't seen before.
