war_eagle99 Posted May 24, 2008 #26 Share Posted May 24, 2008 Is it easy to take the ferry to the beach? Will I get lost? OK I should admit I do get lost a lot at home! So it would really need to be simple. The ferry is right by where the cruise docks and is the best way to get to where the beach and shopping are. You can't miss it and they are running non-stop so you never have to wait long either. You'll probably hear directions from your cruise director 100 times the day before as well. The Big Booper Posted May 24, 2008 #27 Share Posted May 24, 2008 The water taxi (ferry) runs between the pier and Great Bay Beach. The beach itself is fine and gives a nice view of the harbor and the ships docked. The water quality is iffy what with marine discharges and untreated sewage runoffs so I wouldn't put my toe in the water here. The area at the rear of the beach has been improved vastly and there is a nice boardwalk and stores facing the beach as well as the shopping on Front Street one short block away
hubofhockey Posted May 28, 2008 #28 Share Posted May 28, 2008 One of the best family beaches/places to go is Pinel Island and there's a lobster grill there as well. I went several years ago and had a great time there. There were some live animals on the island giving it some real charm as well (chickens and goats, etc.)
