M/V Discovery May 31st Excursions

We will be taking a cruise on the M/V Discovery May 31st sailing to Flam, Lerwick, Akureyri, Isafjordur, Reykjavik and Torshavn. Does anyone have any suggestions of what shore excursions to do in any of these places? We generally like to organize our own time in port, rather than taking the ships excursions, however we are not having much luck with this. We want to do the Flam train, but think we will do this on our own once we dock there. In Reykjavik we will probably do the Golden Circle Tour, but are not sure about other ports. Any help out there? I must say, these boards have been a godsend to me!
