charliesdad Posted March 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2008 We're on the July 2008 Sea Princess cruise around the Med. When onboard expenses are charges to my GB credit card, is it best to request that they are charged in USD of GBP? I think I read that getting charged in USD means that I'll only end up paying one currency conversion fee not two - is that right? :)
strummer Posted March 21, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2008 not sure if I'm answering your question but when on the sea princess all shipboard accounts are charged in USD. You can choose if your credit card is charged in dollars or they will convert for you - I think there is some argument that its cheaper one way but I don't think there is much in it. Enjoy the sea princess its a lovely ship
charliesdad Posted March 21, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted March 21, 2008 Thanks - it's our first cruise so we don't know what to expect, very excited already though!
cruisergirl79 Posted March 22, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2008 The currency onboard is USD, I'm not sure how it would be with GBP, I'm assuming the same as other currencies. It is less expensive for you to let your own credit card company exchange from USD to GBP then to have Princess Cruises do it, they have a higher exchange rate then credit card companies. So in the end leave your onboard account in USD.
