We are on the August Jewel sailing - I have not heard of "white nights". what is this?
mfdds Posted March 24, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted March 24, 2008 White nights is when the sun doesn't set, or it is dark only for a very short period of time. I think it is more in July than August.
Lair Bear Posted March 25, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2008 "The White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia is an annual international cultural event." This is a quote from Wikipedia. Lair Bear Posted March 25, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2008 We will be in St. Petersburg from July 25 through 27 and so will miss the activities at the Mariinsky theatre. That is too bad. But could you tell us if there are other events happening related to the White Night festival? We hope it doesn't stop on July 20 all together. volkoff Posted April 15, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 15, 2008 Hi everyone, I recomend you visit: Pushkin (Ekaterina's palace, amber room), Petrodvorets/Peterhof, City Sightseen excursion, walk in the center (Palace's square, St.Petr& Paul fortress) and... (you'll have no enought time)... :( If you'll have 5-6 hours free you can visit Kronshtadt (city of naval base) with tour. I reccomend to take a Private car and do this route: 1st day: Center of STP-> Kronshtadt (dam, city, forts...)-> trip from Kronshtadt to Lomonosov by ferry-> Lomonosov-> Peterhof/Petrodvorets-> Strelna (president's residence)-> City... At the Night: City Next day: Pushkin-> Gatchina... You can take city tours in the center: metro "Gostiniy Dvor". There is a lot of tours. I reccomend you "Davranov" company. :) It'll be difficult but you can see most of beautiful in STP but not all. Next time you can visit our city and look more detailed what you want. Don't hesitate ask me.
