Norwegian Jewel Casino?

riddle

Recommended Posts

Anyone recently back from the sailing on the Jewel have any firsthand knowledge about the casino. We are sailing 4/11/08 and I am anxious to hear everything I can so as to be informed ahead of time.

Guess I'm just tooooo excited!!!

I happened to hit a straight flush in the Ultimate Texas Hold'em game. Ultimate is the Hold'em game played strictly against the dealer. Basically, there is no skill involved and luck is what happened when I hit the straight flush. The community cards were 8.9.10 J of clubs and I held the Q of clubs.

The straight flush paid an extra 50 to 1 because it's rare to hit one. I had a five dollar bet so I won $250. Yippee.

But then things got weird. NCL stopped the entire game and checked out each card for signs of misuse, a bent corner, or something. They counted each card then put them in their respective suits, and stored them as ....evidence?! All the while I felt as if they were upset that I had won. Good grief...$250 really isn't that much money. I spent twice that on a darn excursion to Tulum for the four of us.

Finally after 10 minutes, or more, they began dealing the game again with new cards. But then they started asking me how much money I started with, how much I'd won, etc. Then the pit boss asked me about my watch: why the time was different (we'd been thru a few time zones and daylight savings time). Was it "just" a watch (it's a runner's watch)? All the while I believed they were implying that I had cheated.

I felt subtly harrassed, and finally I just cashed in my winnings, smiled and went back to my room.

The previous evening or two nothing of the sort occured. Of course, I was donating to them, not hitting a straight flush.

BTW, the cruise was great. I just thought the actions of the pit boss and dealer were unprofessional:)

Quite a bit so.:( And it was $250.00, not $25,000.00

Can't really answer as I've never been on the Jewel specifically, but I've never had anything like that happen on other ships. I tend to play craps and most times 'donate'.

I play craps too and have been on the Jewel. Good game. Best odds of any cruise line. Nice casino and I'm a bit surprised at that dealers actions after winning $250. I've seen similar things in Atlantic City but for a lot more money. As far as ship casinos go, I put the Jewels near the top. You do have to be aware of mistakes being most of them are just starting out. But that is the players responsibility too. When I was on the Jewel I was watching a blackjack game where three people were playing. THey all stood on their hands and the dealer had a 6 and an 8. She took a card, got an 8, announced she had 20 and took all 3 peoples money and cards. I pointed that out and it was fixed. I then realized that I have to open a casino.
